Sandy River Smelt Dip Fishing Regulations
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced the opening of the Sandy River for smelt dip fishing on Wednesday, March 11, from 12-7 p.m. The harvest limit is 10 pounds per person, and dippers must use a dipnet and have a valid 2026 Oregon angling license. The department recommends bringing waders, ice, and scales to ensure a safe and successful fishing experience. Public access points are available along the open area, and dippers are reminded to respect local businesses and private property.
