Iowa Angler Sets New Carp Record with European Rig

Jakob Mackey was fishing in his neighborhood lake in Sioux City, Iowa, when he caught a massive grass carp that shattered the World Record for the 30-pound line class category. Mackey had been targeting big carp all summer, using a specialized European carp-fishing setup known as the Hair Rig, which he discovered through research and ordered through an outfitter in Texas.
