"Hydrofoils, engineered by Morrelli & Melvin, can increase boat speed and efficiency by lifting the boat while moving through the water. This was seen in a test of an electric-powered boat with Hydrofin foils, which overcame the weight of 800 pounds of lithium batteries. The foils can also improve economy and make the boat run smoother and quieter. Hydrofin foils can be adjusted to lift nearly half the boat's weight and have been shown to increase speed by over a third and improve economy by 30%. In a test without the foils, the boat reached 17.2 mph, but with foils installed, it reached 24.9 mph using less power and achieving better fuel efficiency."
