Trey McKinney: A History of Making History
The 2024 Aftco Bassmaster Elite at Lake Fork, the second stop on the 2024 Aftco Bassmaster Elite Series tournament trail, saw a historic competition with 103 top bass anglers catching record-breaking numbers of largemouth bass, including the heaviest bass ever filmed on Bass LIVE. The pre-spawn conditions at Lake Fork, Texas, and a mix of fishing techniques and equipment led to impressive catches, with a rookie angler becoming the youngest to win an Elite event. The winner primarily used a Strike King Z Too soft plastic on a St. Croix PHYSYX casting rod. Temperatures warmed during the competition, pushing the fish closer to shore. The top ten finishers all earned Century Belts by weighing over 100 pounds of bass, with five of them being Elite Series rookies.
